Mastagard has just achieved Enviro-Mark Gold Level Status.  Mastagard, the South Islands largest  privately owned recycling company, is committed to remain at the forefront of waste reduction and  recycling in more ways than one.  Last year Mastagard achieved Enviro-Mark NZ Bronze Status then Silver Status and we are happy to announce that we are kicking off 2012 with Gold Status, an achievement that shows Mastagard does more than just talk about environmental and safety issues within their workplace. To achieve a Gold-level certification (Offered by Enviro-Mark®NZ) our organisation is third-party audited annually against compliance to the most commonly applicable environmental, health and safety legislation of New Zealand. There are 12 pieces of legislation at Bronze, which took Mastagrd two years to achieve. Silver Status requires an additional 3 pieces of legistlation (which are very comprensive) and Gold Status requires yet another 7 pieces of even more comprehensive legislation.  Sebastian Stapleton, Mastagard’s Group managing director, says that this Environmental Management System (EMS) has helped minimise operating costs, manage environmental risks and demonstrate his environmental credentials to his customers, suppliers and employees. This achievement by Mastagard’s workforce is proof of the company’s combined commitment to a cleaner greener New Zealand and an encouragement to all recycling companies to follow suit.  Mastagard is the first and only waste and recycling company in New Zealand to achieve Gold Status.
